Answers about our flat-pack coffins: materials, certificates, delivery and ordering.

Product and design

A coffin supplied as solid pine boards and wooden dowels in one compact flat carton. You assemble it with the mallet supplied, only when it is needed. Until then it stores flat.

A mallet is supplied in every carton. You need a clear bench or two trestles.

About 30 minutes for a first-time assembler.

Solid FSC-certified pine, kiln-dried and untreated, with no stain, oil, wax or coating. There are no screws, nails or metal fixings.

A liner, a pillow and an absorbent pad, made with GOTS-certified organic cotton. Organic applies to the cotton only. Timber cannot be certified organic.

About 1,980 x 560 x 340 mm inside, and up to 690 mm wide over the handles. Final figures are confirmed on the production sample. It arrives in one compact flat carton, about 115 x 70 x 15 cm (design target).

We confirm the weight when the sample is weighed. Solid timber is heavy, so plan for a two-person lift.

125 kg. This is to be confirmed by testing when the sample is complete.

It helps with freight and packaging. On average, a flat-packed coffin needs about a quarter of the space of a pre-assembled coffin of the same size, and about half the packaging material. On the same basis, it is approximately 70 percent cheaper to deliver, a saving we pass on to our customers. Its freight and packaging emissions are less than half those of a pre-assembled coffin of the same size. We do not call the coffin carbon neutral. We share the assumptions on request.

Delivery and site acceptance

Most of Australia. The delivery cost depends on your location and order size, and is confirmed with your quote.

Individual orders are sent from our warehouse in Vietnam by air freight, typically in 2 to 3 weeks. We confirm the time for your location with your quote. Bulk orders are sent from our stock in Vietnam, typically in 4 to 6 weeks.

It is designed for both: no metal, no stain, oil or coating, and a Green Burial Council compliant design. Crematoria, cemeteries and natural burial grounds each decide what they accept, so please check with your site.

Acceptance is decided site by site. No single body certifies a coffin for the whole of Australia, and each crematorium, cemetery and natural burial ground sets its own rules. Tell us which sites you work with, and we send the specification and certificates they ask for, as they become available.
